Howard Spring
Howard Spring was an immensely popular and successful writer, who enjoyed a large following of readers from the 1940s to the 1960s, his books were translated into many different languages and some made into films.
His Books
Every morning he would shut himself in his study and write one thousand words, steadily building up to novels of around one hundred and fifty thousand words.
He rarely made major alterations to his writings (all completed with a dip-in pen).
An extensive collection of Howard Spring's novels are on the bookshelves of Hooper's Hill.
The House
We bought Hooper's a few years ago and began works to bring the house and garden back to their former glory and restore a comfortable period house for people to enjoy.
In 2020 the restoration was finished and we are happy to now offer Hooper's Hill as a holiday let so people can enjoy this lovely place and the history of this charming old house.
